Industry Standard DB 25 Cables

There aren't many audio systems in operation these days that don't have at least one Tascam/Pro Tools Standard DB25 connection in it somewhere. Shown here is a partial list of equipment and manufacturers that use this connection:

This is the basic building block of the modern audio era. These cables are built 10, 15, 20 or 40 feet long with an Industry Standard male DB25 connector on one end, to Neutrik XLR's on the other. The XLR end has a 15 inch breakout. Belden cable and Neutrik connectors are found in use everywhere in the Pro Audio Industry. Belden 1512C cable features:

This is a top of the line cable harness, custom-built for connecting your 192 interface unit. With these harnesses we take extra steps to make them ultra-durable.

It is fabricated using Mogami 2934, 16 pair audio cable to connect 8 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs. Mogami is the cable of choice for just about all of the professional recording studios around the world. From the Mogami website: “Mogami multicore cables are designed for the highest level of audio performance and feature superb electrical and mechanical characteristics while remaining compact, super flexible and easy to use”.

The end that plugs into the 192 I/O has the inputs and outputs separated into two groups, each covered with black Tech Flex and terminated with DB25 connectors. The input group is longer than the output group so that the harness dresses nicely behind the unit. The input connector can be used on either the +4 or the –10 inputs.

Both of the DB25 connectors are enclosed with metal AMP hoods. These heavy-duty hoods provide extra protection and RF shielding for your audio signals. And they are equipped with nice long thumbscrews for easy connection, no screwdriver necessary.

The XLR ends have a 24-inch breakout on all pairs, with the inputs and outputs tied into separate bundles. Each pair is covered with 1/8 inch black Tech Flex. The Tech Flex protects the pairs and does a great job of preventing tangles. Each pair is identified with easy to read, machine printed, self-laminating labels. For extra protection each label is encased in clear heat shrink tubing.

The XLR's are industry standard Neutrik Gold contact, black housing XLR's, male for the outputs, Neutrik Part # NC3MX-B, female for the inputs, Neutrik Part # NC3MX-B.

This is a top of the line, 2 RU, 19 inch rack panel and cable assembly perfect for analog and digital audio connection to a rack mounted 192 interface unit. There are three Gold Plated DB25 connectors for analog audio I/O, built using Mogami 2936, 24 pair audio cable.

+4 Analog Inputs connected from the Female XLR Combo Connectors on the panel
-10 Analog Inputs connected from the Female 1/4" Phone Combo Connectors on the panel (for instrument inputs)

The 6 foot cable length is long enough to service most equipment racks and still keep things neat and easy to service inside.

On the analog audio cable the DB25 connectors each have their eight individual channels covered with black Tech Flex Sleeving to protect and prevent tangles. They are built at custom lengths to hang nicely behind your 192, once plugged in.

All four of the DB25 connectors are enclosed inside metal AMP hoods. These heavy-duty hoods provide extra protection and RF shielding for your audio signals. And they are equipped with nice long thumbscrews for easy connection, no screwdriver necessary.

The rear of the panel has a solid strain relief bar to hold the cabling and protect the panel connections. It is 5 inches deep.

The panel-mounted XLR's are industry standard Neutrik Gold Contact, Black Housing connectors, male for the outputs, Neutrik Part # NC3MD-L-B-1, female for the digital inputs, Neutrik Part # NC3FD-L-B-1, and Neutrik Combo Connectors (female XLR and female 1/4" phone on one connector) for analog inputs.
